The chief purpose of this compilation is to provide students of English and American literature with a convenient and reasonably authoritative guide to research materials. It is highly selective; many items which have appeared in similar handbooks have been rejected as being obsolete, or untrustworthy, or simply not valuable enough for the student to bother with. We have tried always to keep in mind the needs of today’s scholars, which in some ways are different from the needs of preceding generations.

Condition
Enlarge the photo above. Former college library book with the usual markings. The cover and pages are in good condition. The plastic comb has broken top “tooth” as shown. No personal names or markings noted. Smells like a musty basement at present. Will air out in my home – or yours. Stored in and ships from clean, smoke-free, pet-free home.
