The Plot
Set on Chicago’s South Side, Lorraine Hansberry’s celebrated play concerns the divergent dreams and conflicts in three generations of the Younger family: son Walter Lee, his wife Ruth, his sister Beneatha, his son Travis, and matriarch Lena. When her deceased husband’s insurance money comes through, Mama Lena dreams of moving to a new home and a better neighborhood in Chicago. Walter Lee, a chauffeur, has other plans: buying a liquor store and being his own man. Beneatha dreams of medical school. Hansberry’s portrait of one family’s struggle to retain dignity in a harsh and changing world is a searing and timeless document of hope and inspiration.

This paperback script measures about 7″ x 4-1/8″ and has 130 pages in glued binding. There are 11 b/w photos about center from the film starring Sidney Poitier. Interior, 3W,8M
Condition
See photo above. In good condition overall with handling/storage that includes corner creases and crosswise stress to the binding as shown, and a scraping to the outer edge of the back cover. The spine has two reading lines that did not crack the binding. The pages are toning from age but are in good condition. Name of first owner inside the front cover and some important lines marked in black ink. From clean, smoke-free theatrical home.

Unless you request otherwise, I will wrap the book in plastic wrap to help protect it from the elements, tightly sandwich it between pieces of cardboard, then wrap in brown paper to send via Media Mail with Delivery Confirmation tracking.
