Description

From the Back Cover
Both as a teacher and as a painter, Franklin Jones has been noted for his versatility, handling oils, watercolor and acrylics with equal facility. Helping thousands of students has given him a special insight into characteristic technical problem areas. This book has been compiled to help those who would like to try a medium for the first time or learn to switch from one medium to another, depending upon the requirements of a particular subject. As the author states in the first section, “One of my interests in writing this book is, hopefully, to entice the reader to try all three mediums. Too often people tell me they’ve tried only one . . . the others look too difficult. Such self-inflicted limitations may be depriving them of much satisfaction. The very medium they shy away from might be the one they would find most successful.” The characteristic limitations and strengths of each of the mediums are demonstrated, and step-by-step paintings of the same subject are presented in each medium, illustrating how to handle them successfully.
