“The Night Before Christmas” is provided as a gift front your Hallmark retailer in appreciation for your business. This booklet is the first in a series of Christmastime stories from Hallmark designed to help you share the warm traditions of Christmas with your family and friends. Originally titled “A Visit From St. Nicholas,” the poem was written in 1822, just a few days before Christmas. It was penned by Clement C. Moore, a New York seminary professor and classical scholar said to have been opposed to “frivolous amusements.” Although he wrote it strictly for the enjoyment of his own children. “The Night Before Christmas” was published anonymously by a friend of the family. Moore, somewhat embarrassed by his frivolity, refused to claim authorship for nearly 25 years. In the century and a half since, his poem has become a classic and has been one of the strongest influences in shaping our current images and traditions of Santa Claus.

Condition
Enlarge the photo above. In very good condition for age with the covers showing a bit of storage on the corners and specks of soil on the back. The pages are as new. No names or other markings. Stored in and ships from clean, smoke-free home.
