Description

From the Envelope Back
This package contains patterns for three tops: a cropped Burmese Jacket, a side-wrapped Thai Blouse with long sleeves and shaped peplum, and a classic Indian Choli, the bare-midriff fitted blouse worn under saris. Also included are instructions for wrapping a sari in three styles, plus three ways of wrapping lengths of fabric into skirts, from the South Pacific, Indonesia, and India. The contemporary-looking short jacket was found in Burma but is similar to jackets of Chinese origin, worn in many areas of Southeast Asia. Front, back, and sleeves are cut in one piece. An underplacket extends the front opening on the right side, and selfbias finishes the faced neckline and is used for handmade frogs and knotted buttons. Three patch pockets and fold-back cuffs complete the detailing. The Thai Blouse has been adapted from the original, to provide better fit. Back and side front are cut in one shaped piece, with additional panels in the center front. A straight neckband crosses to tie at the waist inside and out. A close fit is the main characteristic of the Choli, as it is both undergarment and blouse for the sari. Shaped center front pieces (darted to fit the figure) and separate side pieces join into a midriff band. Above-elbow sleeves hug the arms; the back is fitted smoothly with darts. An added front underlap fastens with hooks and eyes; self-bias finishes the neckline, softly V-shaped in front and scooped in back. See inside pattern for Sari and Sarong skirts.

Shipping
Generally sent the same day you pay. Unless you request otherwise, I will back this with one piece of box cardboard (to help prevent the Post Office from bending it), wrap it in plastic wrap (to help protect the item from moisture or torn packaging), then send inside a manila envelope when sent via First Class Mail with Delivery Confirmation. This is the cheapest postage option that includes both item protection and tracking. See the shipping page to give you an estimate on the cost of a First Class 2 package. I am delighted to combine postage and insurance costs if you purchase more than one item. The second item may travel for free or just a few cents more — so it’s worth taking a look at my other items before you complete your order.
