Description

From the Introduction
Although quilting as a needle art is filled with traditional patterns and techniques, there are those quilters who see quilts as modern art pieces. More than just fabric artists, these quilters take the traditional ways of quilting and change them, embellish them or use a modern technique in creating them, so the quilts they create are very unique. The roots of the design may come from traditional quilting blocks, but the completed quilt is very striking and unusual. These quilts may be inspired by an occasion, a place, a fabric or other works of art. The quilt may be based on a recognizable block or it may come from the imagination of the quilter. Where possible, we’ve included step-by-step instructions. In the case of some patterns, we can only give you the method to create your own art quilt. These quilts are easy to make; many of them can be made by a beginner. Remember when you make these quilts that you are both artist and quilter. Be sure you make changes to the designs in this book, so that your quilts are unique art pieces that truly reflect who you are.
