QUILTED SKIRT – Folkwear 206, Misses’ 6-16

$18.00$20.00

Folkwear 206 for making the Quilted Skirt. This is sized for Misses’ 6-16.

Description

From the Envelope Back
The most treasured item in an 18th century lady’s wardrobe was an elaborately quilted petticoat worn for both fashion and warmth. Overskirts were raised, divided and pulled aside to display the elegant handwork. Western pioneers made simpler calico versions of this skirt; later Victorian versions were machine-quilted taffeta with flounces. The slimming effect of this skirt is due to a concentration of the quilting in the lower part of the skirt, while the upper skirt section is lined with fabric alone. Ours falls in gathers from a narrow waistband with a placketed side opening. It may be cut ankle- or calf-length. View A uses commercial pre-quilted fabric; Views B and C may be machine or hand quilted; View C has a more elaborate quilting design, and no ruffle. Transfers are given for a typical floral spray design and grid. The skirt is very pretty today with a lacy blouse or knitted top for casual day wear or romantic evenings, especially in cooler climes.

Pattern Specifics
Folkwear 206 includes the full-size pattern pieces, and instructions for making the Quilted Skirt. Enlarge the photo for a better look at the details. Let me know if you’d like to see the envelope back. This is sized for Misses’ 6-16 (24-36″ waist). The envelope measures 11-1/2″ x 8-3/4″ and the pattern is printed on bond paper for the envelope with purple cover and on tissue paper for folder in teal green.

Condition
See photo. The purple envelope is in good condition for age (1980) with some lighter wear, particularly on the corners as would be expected, and a short edge tear and chip on the closing flap. The pattern and instruction sheets are as new in original factory folds. For the teal green folder (1982) find light storage on the cover and as new contents inside. This one comes inside a plastic baggy with fold-over top. No names or other markings on either. From clean, smoke-free home.

Shipping
Generally sent the same day you pay. Unless you request otherwise, I will back this with one piece of box cardboard (to help prevent the Post Office from bending it), wrap it in plastic wrap (to help protect the item from moisture or torn packaging), then send inside a manila envelope when sent via First Class Mail with Delivery Confirmation. This is the cheapest postage option that includes both item protection and tracking. See the shipping page to give you an estimate on the cost of a First Class 2/3 package. I am delighted to combine postage and insurance costs if you purchase more than one item. The second item may travel for free or just a few cents more — so it’s worth taking a look at my other items before you complete your order.
