Description

From the Back Cover
Inspired by the exquisite designs she had seen while traveling the ancient silk route across Asia, professional needlepoint designer Gay Ann Rogers turned her talents to adapting these unusual designs for needlepoint. The result is a stunning sourcebook of needlepoint designs derived from the art and artifacts of Persia, India, Korea, China, and Japan. Each project is clearly graphed and shown in full color, making it easy for stitchers to work directly from the book to create the designs on canvas. In addition, for each design there is a short history of the original artifact from which the needlepoint was adapted, plus complete instructions for how to work the designs, including suggested stitches and colors, and creative ideas for adapting the designs for a variety of uses. The projects range in scope from the simple to the elaborate—from pillows, purses, pincushions, and decorative wall hangings to full-sized Kazak and Persian rugs. There is also a special chapter on designing and graphing your own projects using uncomplicated techniques for constructing lines, curves, and circles. Needlepoint Designs From Asia is a unique and valuable addition to any needleworker’s library, and offers a contemporary and imaginative array of projects for those who would like to add a touch of Eastern beauty to their needlepoint.
