Description

From the Back Cover Sheet
Due to the wet climate of the country, the Irish have always worn cloaks of one sort or another. The fashion of a full-length collared cloak with or without a hood started in the early 18th century. By 1730 they were found all over Ireland. They have also been widely adopted by modem Renaissance and Medieval living history groups for their warmth and elegance. Originally constructed in red, blue, green or gray wool, by the mid 1800’s they were usually made of black wool. AlterYears offers 3 different views of this popular cloak: A) collar only, no hood, B) gathered hood with collar and C) fixed hood with collar. This pattern offers two collar variations as well: 1) rounded and 2) pointed. Instructions for lengthening or shortening the cloak are also given.

Shipping
Generally sent the same day you pay. Unless you request otherwise, I will back this with one piece of box cardboard (to help prevent the Post Office from bending it), wrap it in plastic wrap (to help protect the item from moisture or torn packaging), then send inside a manila envelope when sent via First Class Mail with Delivery Confirmation. This is the cheapest postage option that includes both item protection and tracking. See the shipping page to give you an estimate on the cost of a First Class 3 package. I am delighted to combine postage and insurance costs if you purchase more than one item. The second item may travel for free or just a few cents more — so it’s worth taking a look at my other items before you complete your order.
