About the Story
“A long time ago in a land where nobody smiled very much, there came one day a troupe of dancing children.” Those children danced and laughed, and this interested a girl who asked “What makes you dance?” She was told “I dance because I am extraordinary! There is no one else in the world who is quite like me! You are different, too.” She thought about it for a little bit, then explained what she heard to the other children, who were soon smiling and dancing, too. Then one woman asked about the dancing, then joined in and called to the other women to dance. One man asked “What makes you dance?” One of the women danced beside him, laughing, and she told him why. “He felt a happiness inside him that set his toes twitching. He called to all the other men, young and old.” “So they danced all day and into the night, all the people of the land. And somewhere in the starlight, the troupe of black-eyed children that let the dance disappeared. They vanished into the forest, leaving only the echoes of their laughter and the magic of the dance. And the magic of the dance stayed with the people as a truth that sang ever after in their hearts.”

The words and melody line for the song “I’m No One Else But Me” is at the back. This softcover book measures about 7-1/4″ x 8-1/4″ and has 32 pages in stapled binding.
Condition
See photo above. Likely prepared for a classroom (number at top right and covers neatly wrapped in contact paper), but I don’t believe this one was ever used. No other markings. Stored in and shipped from clean, smoke-free home.
Shipping
Generally sent the same day payment arrives. Unless you request otherwise, I will wrap the book in plastic wrap to help protect it from the elements, tightly sandwich it between pieces of cardboard, then wrap in brown paper to send via Media Mail with Delivery Confirmation tracking. See the shipping page for the cost to send a one-pound Media Mail package. Insurance is an additional cost as described. I am delighted to combine postage and insurance costs if you purchase more than one item.
