Description

From the Suggestions Page
Many books have been written about Washington—many anthologies have already been compiled—but as far as the Editor knows, there has hitherto existed no book of complete Washington programs for every grade in school. In a teacher’s over-crowded day, it is not easy to make up a program. All too often the library yields material for every grade but her own—or perhaps there is a superfluity of one act plays and no poetry but the hackneyed rhymes that do double duty on every program. In this book we have attempted to provide eight complete and well-balanced programs. Each one an be used exactly as it appears. Provision has been made for the alternating of boys and girls as well as for the balancing of the lighter and more serious parts of the program. Programs in which a large number of pupils take some part, however small, always arouse more interest and enthusiasm in a Class. For this reason, there is included in every grade some group presentation in which many of the class have a small cart. …. It is our hope that these programs will save time and effort for the teacher and arouse real appreciation and enthusiasm in both the actors and the audience.
