About the Story
On Christmas Eve, before delivering presents to girls and boys, Santa and two elves set out to deliver presents to their animal friends. While delivering a present to Barney Bear in his cave, there was an avalanche that covered the entrance to the cave. One elf started digging, the other ran to get help from the other elves. Fearing they were too small to dig Santa out in time for Christmas, one of the elves suggested they go to Old Eli, Santa’s very first helper. He was the wisest elf. Surely he would know what to do. He got a jar of magic Sugar ‘n’ Spice Dust. They went to the cave and Eli sprinkled the dust over the sleigh full of toys — and they sprang to life and started digging snow. Near midnight the miniature army of toys and elves rescued Santa and the toys fell back asleep. “Santa and his elves loaded the toys into the sleigh. And with a merry “HO, HO, HO!” they dashed into the starlit sky. Around the world, children slept, dreaming of Santa and the toys he would bring. Not one of them would ever know that this was the Christmas Santa almost missed.”
