Description

From the Introduction
Anyone who loves patchwork and quilting will enjoy making small projects. While it’s satisfying to work on a large project such as a double wedding ring quilt, it’s nice to be able to set it aside to make a crib quilt or a wall hanging. And if you’re new to the craft of making quilted patchwork, a small quilting project can be very rewarding — it is usually fun to make and you see beautiful results quickly. Small projects make wonderful gifts. There is such a variety of items from which to choose. Almost any pieced fabric project can be quilted. You might choose to make place mats or Christmas ornaments; duffel, toy, or cosmetic bags; or a pillow, wall hanging, or crib quilt. Imagine welcoming a newborn infant with a handmade quilt. Nothing could be more appreciated. This is the ideal gift because it is practical, pretty, and will be cherished for many years. It even gets better-looking with each washing. Applique quilts for Baby can be made with adorable designs. Or you can make patchwork patterns from pastel prints or brightly colored fabrics. It is even possible to complete a crib quilt in a weekend. Small quilting projects are perfect items to sell at fundraising bazaars. They can be made from scraps of fabric left over from larger projects and are therefore extremely economical. Quilting small projects is an excellent leisure-time activity, especially when pinching pennies and making the most of limited time are important….
