Description

From the Folder Back
Rosie the Riveter was the fictional character pictured in posters to recruit women into the work force during World War II. Women started working in large numbers building airplanes, tanks, warships, artillery and ammunition. Factory work demanded slacks or overalls, and “utility clothes” became the uniform of Rosie and her colleagues. For the first time in history—or, rather, herstory—slacks became an acceptable, even essential part of a woman’s wardrobe. Folkwear pays tribute to the accomplishments of these heroic women with this hard working wardrobe made up of a Shirt, Overalls, and Slacks to sew. Also included are patterns for a Sweater to knit and a Snood to crochet. The Shirt is a roomy favorite. Styled from men’s sport shirts, this short sleeved classic is known today as a “camp” shirt. It’s timeless in crisp white cotton and lots of fun made extra-large in bright tropical prints. The perfectly fitting Slacks have two pleats in the front, side pockets, and a back zipper. Straight legs fall smoothly from the hips for a clean, smooth look. Add the sweetheart shaped bodice for our fabulous Overalls with straps that criss-cross in the back. The charming Sweater knit in two colors in alternating garter and stockinette stitches has set-in sleeves and a round neck; and to keep your hair out of the machinery, a simple Snood to crochet completes the package. Included in Lore is “The Life and Times of Rosie the Riveter”, a fascinating account of women’s valuable contribution to the war effort.

Shipping
Generally sent the same day you pay. Unless you request otherwise, I will back this with one piece of box cardboard (to help prevent the Post Office from bending it), wrap it in plastic wrap (to help protect the item from moisture or torn packaging), then send inside a manila envelope when sent via First Class Mail with Delivery Confirmation. This is the cheapest postage option that includes both item protection and tracking. See the shipping page to give you an estimate on the cost of a First Class 3 package. I am delighted to combine postage and insurance costs if you purchase more than one item. The second item may travel for free or just a few cents more — so it’s worth taking a look at my other items before you complete your order.
