Description
From the Back Cover
Since early times, quilting has been associated with warmth, practicality and lasting beauty. Its underlying secret for producing warmth — layers of fabric stitched together with padding in between — has been handed down through the centuries. Today this venerable craft remains one of the most satisfying forms of needlework. This book guides needleworkers in the basic technique of quilting — the process essential to the completion of every quilt, whether it is patchwork, appliqued or surface-stitched. Needlework designer Linda Macho has combined traditional quilting patterns with her own original designs to produce this collection of full-size quilting templates including: feathers, birds, hearts, pinwheels, borders, geometries, flowers, braids, nautical designs, and dozens of others. These ready-to-use patterns, printed on heavy stock, can be used alone or in combinations to create an unlimited number of designs. Clear, complete directions and numerous diagrams will guide even beginning quilters through the steps of successful quilting: use and selection of patterns, equipment, frames and hoops, assembling a quilt, how to stitch and more. Also included is a Selected Bibliography and a Metric Conversion Chart. Whether you are making a quilt for practical use, as a decorative bedcovering, a wall hanging or a gift, you will find that the wealth of patterns and easy-to-follow instructions in this volume make it an invaluable sourcebook for a creative and satisfying pastime. It will be a welcome addition to every quilter’s library.
