Description

From the Book Back
MX fiber reactive dyes are used extensively by fiber artists and others who are interested in dyeing fabrics which have lustrous color and a high degree of colorfastness and lightfastness. You will learn how to work successfully with Procion MX dyes in Judy Anne Walter’s Creating Color: A Dyer’s HandbookCreating Color is designed to serve the needs of both the beginning and more experienced dyer. All dye measuring is done with household equipment. There are timesaving charts for those dyers, like quilters, who frequently dye small amounts of muslin. Formulas are provided for those dyers whose dyeing situations vary from dye session to dye session. And lastly, there are instructions on how to dye fabric in the washing machine. In addition to a thorough step by step explanation on how to dye, Creating Color discusses dye safety, setting up a dyeing area, dye equipment and supplies, and dyeing techniques such as color gradations. Examples accompany all discussions. The book concludes with a question and answer chapter, a suppliers list, bibliography, glossary, and an index.
