From the Envelope Back
As popular with the little ladies as with their Mamas, many versions of this pretty gown were originally mail-ordered through the couturier to rural America, the Sears, Roebuck Catalog. The children’s version of Beautiful Dreamer, Pattern #224, View A, has a ruffled neckline and is cut above the knee for sizes 2-6; below the knee for sizes 8-12. View B features a wide triangular ruffled collar, godets for flare, and the traditional ankle-length. Both views are full and flowing with three deep box pleats in back; the front is gathered into a gently rounded ruffled bodice yoke. Both are closely fitted to the upper body with a long buttoned opening at left front. Long puffed sleeves are finished with slip-over wristbands and ruffles which fall gracefully over the hands. This pretty gown is equally at home in Victoria’s Boudoir with a nightcap, or as a daytime dress for Sunday visits to Grandma.
About the Pattern
Folkwear 225 includes the full-size pattern pieces, and instructions for making Childhood Dream dresses. Enlarge the photo for a better look at the details. Let me know if you’d like to see the envelope back. This is sized for girls sizes 2-4-6-8-10-12 (21-30″ breast). The envelope measures 11-1/2″ x 8-3/4″ and the pattern is printed on bond paper.
Condition
See photo. The envelope is in good condition for age (1983) with some wear, particularly on the corners as would be expected. The pattern and instruction sheets are as new in original factory folds. No names, but original price on the front as shown. From clean, smoke-free home.
Shipping
Generally sent the same day you pay. Unless you request otherwise, I will back this with one piece of box cardboard (to help prevent the Post Office from bending it), wrap it in plastic wrap (to help protect the item from moisture or torn packaging), then send inside a manila envelope when sent via First Class Mail with Delivery Confirmation. This is the cheapest postage option that includes both item protection and tracking. See the shipping page to give you an estimate on the cost of a First Class 3 package. I am delighted to combine postage and insurance costs if you purchase more than one item. The second item may travel for free or just a few cents more — so it’s worth taking a look at my other items before you complete your order — AND let me adjust the invoice BEFORE you pay.
