BIG SKY RIDING SKIRT – Folkwear 231, Misses’ 8-18

$19.00

Folkwear 231 for making the Big Sky Riding Skirt. This is sized for Misses’ 8-18.

Description

From the Envelope Back
At the turn of the century enterprising equestrian women, such as rodeo star Fanny Sperry Steele (1887-1983), wore a divided skirt which permitted them to ride astride, but preserved the “look” of a skirt. This ingenious garment is actually a culotte with a movable front panel which buttons either to the left for a skirt effect, or to the right for a pants effect. A deep center back pleat conceals the legs providing plenty of fullness and assuring a smooth hip line. Double front plackets on either side of the front panel are secured with buttons, which extend down to the hem. We’ve added side seam pockets, not provided on the antique original. Two lengths are presented; a contemporary mid-calf length and the traditional ankle length. The Big Sky Riding Skirt looks wonderfully up-to-date with Folkwear’s #133, the Belgian Military Chef’s Jacket; to star in your own rodeo, top it with one of our Frontier Shirts (#212). This “slick and clean” skirt has come to us from the collection of Tona Freeman Blake, who with Liz Stiffler and Dee Marvine, has co-authored Fanny Sperry Steele’s biography. The pattern was developed from Fanny’s own skirt by Ruby Erickson of Augusta, Montana.

Shipping
Generally sent the same day you pay. Unless you request otherwise, I will back this with one piece of box cardboard (to help prevent the Post Office from bending it), wrap it in plastic wrap (to help protect the item from moisture or torn packaging), then send inside a manila envelope when sent via First Class Mail with Delivery Confirmation. This is the cheapest postage option that includes both item protection and tracking. See the shipping page to give you an estimate on the cost of a First Class 3 package. I am delighted to combine postage and insurance costs if you purchase more than one item. The second item may travel for free or just a few cents more — so it’s worth taking a look at my other items before you complete your order.
