About The Play
Audition for a Writer is a play for three men and two women. The play is about the creation of characters and plot in the mind of a writer, and the complex issues that arise when they are strong enough for conflict. A sweeper is at work in an open area clearing up fallen leaves etc. A writer passes through, making notes. A middle-aged woman sits on the bench, is displeased when the sweeper offers to share his coffee, and leaves. A girl enters with a cut foot, a young man appears and offers to help her. It soon appears that these three are characters being manipulated by the writer; but they refuse to act as he intends and finally attack him violently. As the play draws to a close the sweeper comes forward in a surprisingly new guise.

Condition
Enlarge scan for better view. In good unused condition with soft storage bends as shown. The pages are toning from age but are in very good condition. Theatre name at top of front cover but no other markings. From clean, smoke-free home.
