Description

From the Back Cover
This adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream makes use of Shakespeare’s own words, yet is completely accessible to elementary students. It was selected from a book of eight plays by Albert Cullum called SHAKE HANDS WITH SHAKESPEARE, and reflects the author’s 20-odd years of experience in sharing Shakespeare’s greatness with elementary school classes. Included in this little book are excerpts from Mr. Cullum’s remarks on introducing Shakespeare to the class, and his helpful suggestions on costuming and staging the play. A Midsummer Night’s Dream may be presented in part or in its entirety, and as elaborately or simply as you wish. The many characters in the play will give every child in the class an opportunity to be involved in the production, and to be creative and imaginative — in reading and acting out the roles, in staging the play, in making their own costumes and scenery, and even in inventing their own music and dances.
