From the Book Back
John Calvin, the compassionate Christian, a sensitive man concerned with all aspects of the human situation, a Bible scholar and writer whose pen never seemed to be idle — this is how the great Reformer emerges from this book of reflections. In A Calvin Reader, William F. Keesecker presents the heart of Calvin’s thought, beginning with a series of short passages that give the reader insights into Calvin’s own life. He chooses excerpts that convey Calvin’s teachings about prayer and includes a selection of his prayers. The main part of the book, arranged alphabetically, extends over a broad range of ideas from Abraham to Zeal.
